Beneficiary and Partners

• Beneficiary: Pomorie Municipality.
• Partners: Club “Economy 2000”, “Theoremmus” Ltd., “Ecobulpack Bulgaria” JSC, and Zero Waste Italy (Rifiuti Zero Italia).

Overall Objective

The overall objective of the project is to develop, implement, and promote an innovative holistic approach to waste management in Bulgaria in order to achieve the objectives of EU legislation and policy on the circular economy and waste management by applying good European practices, and to encourage its adoption by local authorities in Bulgaria.

Specific Objectives

The specific objectives of the project are:

1. To enhance the capacity of Pomorie Municipality to plan, design, implement, and administer a new integrated waste management system and to work in cooperation and continuous dialogue with stakeholders.
2. To provide informational, technical, and institutional infrastructure for the collection of mixed and separately collected waste, and to introduce a new door-to-door waste collection and transportation scheme and a municipal waste fee based on PAYT (Pay As You Throw).
3. To increase citizens’ awareness and encourage the adoption of environmentally friendly practices for sustainable consumption, waste prevention, and separate collection.
4. To catalyse the wide-scale implementation of sustainable solutions for improving waste management in Bulgarian municipalities through replication of the good practice results achieved under the project.
5. To contribute to the implementation of the objectives set out in the Waste Management Programme 2021–2028 of Pomorie Municipality.
